Chinese wind turbine developer Aeolon to open up its first international plant

In the presence of the Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of Investment, Convergence and the Evaluation of Public Policies, Mr. Mohcine JAZOULI, and the Wali of the Oriental region, Mr. Mouaad JAMAI, Aeolon, a Chinese new-generation wind turbine blades manufacturer, announced the effective launch of its investment project in Morocco on 23 January 2024. at the inaugural ceremony marking thus the start of construction of its new factory in Nador. This new production centre will be the company's sixth and its first outside China. It should be operational by January 2025.

Aeolon's investment project is one of the first to be approved by the National Investment Commission, set up under the new investment charter, which has been operational since March 2023.

This new facility will be the largest of its kind in the Euro-African zone, with an investment of 220 million euros, creating 3,300 jobs in the region and contributing to the economic development of Nador and the national industrial energy ecosystem.

Aeolon's factory in Nador will be equipped with the most advanced technologies to meet the growing needs of the wind industry worldwide. Through this strategic expansion, Aeolon will bolster its position as a world leader in the manufacture of wind turbine blades, while contributing to the energy transition towards clean energy sources and creating a more sustainable and environmentally friendly future.

The ceremony was an opportunity to celebrate the fruitful partnership between Aeolon and the Kingdom of Morocco, and more specifically the Oriental region.

The launch of Aeolon's production activities outside China is an important step in the company's quest for operational excellence and improved competitiveness. Morocco was chosen as the location for the new plant for a number of key reasons. Firstly, the country offers remarkable political and economic stability, enabling Aeolon to concentrate fully on its production activities. In addition, Morocco has a highly qualified and young workforce, further strengthening the company's competitiveness.

Aeolon is convinced that this expansion outside China will significantly improve the efficiency of the industry's supply chain, reducing the logistical costs associated with wind turbine blades thanks to Morocco's strategic geographical location.

The company is keen to continue working with national players in the renewable energy sector and to contribute to the sustainable growth of the wind energy industry in Morocco.
