National Investment Observatory: Tool for Evaluating and Projecting Private Investment

On Wednesday, May 22, 2024, in Rabat, the Minister Delegate to the Head of Government, in charge of Investment, Convergence, and Evaluation of Public Policies, Mr. Mohcine JAZOULI, chaired the first Steering Committee meeting for the establishment of the National Investment Observatory (ONI). This project is part of the implementation of the High Directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, May God Assist Him, aimed at generating 550 billion dirhams in private investment and creating 500,000 jobs between 2022 and 2026.

The primary objective of creating this Observatory is to ensure effective management towards achieving the goals by providing reliable data on private investment and the job creation generated by these investments.

The ONI will leverage the latest Big Data and Artificial Intelligence technologies to measure investment trends and provide short- and medium-term projections. This information repository will enable real-time evaluation of the state's performance in private investment policy and facilitate necessary adjustments progressively.

As a convergence tool for investment-related data, the ONI will be designed and developed using a co-construction approach, relying on the expertise and statistical knowledge of its main partners, all of whom were present at this first Steering Committee meeting. These partners include the Ministry of the Interior, various departments of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (DB, DGI, DDE, DEPP, DEPF), the High Commission for Planning, Bank al-Maghrib, the Exchange Office, the National Agency for Land Conservation, Cadastre and Cartography, the National Social Security Fund, the Moroccan Investment and Export Development Agency, the Moroccan Office of Industrial and Commercial Property, the Moroccan Observatory of SMEs, the National Committee for Business Environment, and the Regional Investment Centers.
