Japan-Korea Roadshow: A New Dynamic for the Morocco-Japan Economic Partnership

As part of the Japan-Korea roadshow, co-organized from November 25 to 29, 2024, in collaboration with the Moroccan Investment and Export Development Agency (AMDIE), the Minister of Investment, Convergence, and Policy Evaluation, Mr. Karim ZIDANE, led a high-level delegation composed of representatives from the Caisse de Depôt et de Gestion (CDG), the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), and Casa Finance City (CFC). This roadshow aims to strengthen bilateral economic ties and promote Morocco's assets as a prime investment destination.
On Wednesday November 27, 2024, the Minister and his Japanese counterpart, Mr. Yoji MUTO, Minister of Economy, Trade, and Industry signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in Tokyo. This agreement establishes a strategic platform for consolidating bilateral economic relations, exploring new opportunities for cooperation and promoting the sharing of expertise and best practices.
The visit was also marked by a series of meetings with prominent Japanese economic players, including the Japanese Business Federation (Keidanren), the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), as well as major companies such as Mitsui & Co. Ltd, DENSO, Japan Tobacco Inc. (JT), Sojitz Corporation, Sumitomo Corporation, YAZAKI, and Fujikura Ltd. These discussions provided an opportunity to explore concrete projects and strengthen win-win partnerships in strategic sectors such as automotive, aerospace, and agribusiness.
Furthermore, a conference entitled ‘Morocco - A Sustainable Hub for Investment and Trade’, organised under the Morocco Now initiative, was held on Monday 25 November 2024 in Tokyo. In his speech, the Minister highlighted Morocco's strengths, emphasising that thanks to the Enlightened Vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, the Kingdom is now recognised as a regional economic power, with a modern and diversified economy. He also highlighted the world-class infrastructure developed by Morocco, notably the port of Tangier Med.
The Moroccan delegation will continue its programme by travelling to Seoul on 28 November, as part of the second stop of this roadshow.
